Ohio dental assistant credential
Certification for dental assistants practicing in Ohio.
The Commission on Ohio Dental Assistant Certification provides the pathway to the state credential recognized by the Ohio State Dental Board.
Exam day
Registration is open from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM. Bring a student ID or driver’s license, a pencil, PPE, a current CPR card, a notarized letter of recommendation, and lunch in a clear plastic container or bag. There is a midday break. Cell phones and smart devices are not permitted in the building.
Fees
Full exam
$65
Written and clinical. Both parts must be passed. The fee is not refundable.
Retake
$25
Only the failed portion. A new application and current CPR are required, within one year of the original exam.
Renewal
$35
Due before December 31, with 12 hours of continuing education.
Late renewal
$45
After December 31. Unpaid by March 31, the credential expires and the exam must be retaken.
